This course is aimed specifically at those who are involved in assessing qualifications such as NVQs and SVQs. It gives an introduction to the role of the assessor and encourages participants to develop their skills and techniques and to develop an understanding of the assessment process. The course looks in detail at the assessment planning, the collection of evidence, making judgements and the provision of feedback.

The course will ensure that participants are able to:

• Understand competence based training and assessment
• Understand the assessment process
• Collect evidence using a variety of different methods
• Effectively use and develop assessment documentation
• Understand the quality assurance within the NVQ assessment process

Where course participants are linked to an NVQ/SVQ assessment centre they can register for assessment against the NVQ Learning and Development units:

A1: Assess candidates using a range of methods and/or
A2: Assess candidate performance through observation
