Sustainability standards for all
RI worked with Cogent to complete a cross sector standards development project looking at the creation of a new, set of NOS defining the competencies required to support the implementation of the economic, environmental and social components of sustainability.
As a result of the work, standards are now available to support skills such as carbon foot printing and carbon life cycle analysis. The other sectors that supported this development included food and drink manufacture, the land based industry and engineering.

Sustainability standards to be developed for Cogent

RI worked with Cogent, the Sector Skills Council for science based industries, to support the development of new National Occupational Standards. It is anticipated that these standards will help to promote the future development of sustainability in the industries that fall within the Cogent footprint. These include the pharmaceutical, chemical, petroleum, polymer and nuclear industries.

Fresh Produce Standards - project completed

RI has recently completed the development of a new set of National Occupational Standards for the fresh produce sector of the food industry.  A huge variety of companies were consulted as part of the development process, representing all the component parts of the sector. The successful project has resulted in the development of standards that effectively describe the skills and knowledge required by those who work in the sector.

Aquaculture and Fisheries management Standards
RI has recently completed a project for Lantra SCC, to review and update the National Occupational Standards that support the UK Aquaculture and Fisheries Management sector.

Competency framework/OCF development
RI has developed an industry wide OCF framework to cover all the competencies required by those who work in the Salmon Farming Sector at Level 2. Links back to the aquaculture NOS were identified to support of the development of future qualifications in this sector. These new OCF standards are to be used to support the training, development and HR functions within Salmon Farming.

Business Improvement standards for food manufacturing
The contract for IMPROVE SSC involved working with the whole of the food manufacturing sector to define a set of National Occupational Standards to support business improvement and effective manufacture.  The project involved employer and stakeholder engagement to ensure the scope and application of the new national occupational standards reflected the needs of food manufacturing.

Sustainable food manufacturing standards development
The contract for IMPROVE SSC involved working with the whole of the food manufacturing sector to define a set of National Occupational Standards in support of sustainable food manufacturing.  The project involved consulting with employers and stakeholders to scope and define National Occupational Standards in support of Levels 2, 3 and 4.  As part of the consultation, links were maintained with Lantra SSC so that common environmental standards could be incorporated within the development as appropriate.

Fish Processing National Occupational Standards Development
The contract for IMPROVE SSC involved developing National Occupational Standards for the fish processing sector.  The work resulted in a set of fish specific National Occupational Standards to meet the identified needs of fish processing within the UK.  The new standards reflected the component parts of the fish and shellfish processing sector.
