Blended E-Learning Case Study

A large NHS trust wanted to improve customer service standards for all their staff. The Trust identified that the all staff needed to be made aware of the principles of good customer care. The cost of having all trust staff attend a customer care training course was prohibitive, so an alternative was sort.

Resource Initiatives worked with the Trust to develop an e-learning programme that introduces the basic principles of customer care in the context of the NHS. The programme presents the principles of customer care and is designed so that staff can recognise the value and importance of their role in maintaining customer care.

  • The e-learning programme is being delivered via an online learning platform. The benefits to the Trust are that they can:
  • Organise access to learning at times that suit all staff, 24/7
  • Provide the training at all the sites it operates, removing the need for trave
  • Monitor the time staff have spent on the programme
  • Complete summative assessment to monitor learning

Resource Initiatives has made customer care training easy, accessible and flexible

Skills development for the hospitality industry via blended e-learning : case study
A regional training agency supporting the food and drink manufacturing sector wanted to be able to provide its members with access to flexible learning materials that could be used to provide the basic training needs for new entrants into the sector. The requirement was that the learning must be accessible and suitable for delivery across a wide range of employers.

Resource Initiatives worked with the Agency and its members to develop five e-learning programmes to introduce the basic principles of health and safety, hygiene, selling, up-selling and quality in the food industry. The programme presents the principles in the context of hospitality, using examples and illustrations taken from the actual industry.

The e-learning product was used by new entrants to the industry, to gain the knowledge and understanding which is essential to the job role.  In addition, learner workbooks were also developed to encourage the learners to apply their learning in their own place of work.

Online learning can provide your organisation with:

Flexibility with access to learning resources, 24/7

Variety: using computer based learning technology it is possible to create learning resources in a range of different formats. It can incorporate video, audio, animation and can be fully interactive

Targeted materials: it is possible to adapt material to meet the exact needs of individual organisations

Consistency: the training will contain the same message, every time it is delivered

Security: access to the learning resources can be controlled so that only enrolled learners can access the site and the materials

Training records:it is possible to monitor the activity of learners in terms of time spent on the programme and the results of any on-line assessment completed.  Valuable evidence in respect to compliance training.
